Italian Drunken Noodles!

I’m sure you know by now that I am a foodie and I love experimenting with new recipes. I find most of the recipes on Pinterest. It is my absolute favorite website and app on my phone. I have several folders in my account, but the biggest one is my Foodie category. Before each grocery shopping trip, I browse my folder to see what ingredients are needed for a new dish and buy accordingly. This particular trip, Italian drunken noodles sounded like a big hit.

The hardest ingredient to find were pappardelle noodles. They are a flat wide noodle usually found in Italian or Asian cuisine. I didn’t find them in the regular grocery store, but Trader Joe’s sells them for $1.99 per 8 oz bag. Because I love noodles so much, I picked up an extra bag just in case. I started my prepping for the dish which included assorted bell peppers, onion and garlic. I took the spicy sausage out of the casing and sautéed it in olive oil. After the sausage browned, the aromatics were next and I cooked them in the sausage drippings and added white wine, which makes the dish “drunken.” After the wine reduces, add the crushed tomatoes, cooked sausage, herbs and spices to develop the sauce. I let the sauce simmer while boiling the noodles. I wanted the noodles to be cooked to al dente to keep a bite. After the noodles were done, I added them into the sauce and everything came together. Finish with fresh chopped parsley and Parmesan cheese.

My fiancé is not a big fan of tomato sauce based dishes, but ate two bowls of pasta. I knew it passed the test if he loved it. If you don’t have a Pinterest account, I urge you to create one. I promise you will be up in the middle of the night pinning everything.

Enjoy and Bon Appetit!
