Holiday Treats!

Tis the season for holiday desserts! I am not a big sweets person, but it is something about warm cookies and pies give me such a comfort. During Thanksgiving, I love all things pumpkin; lattes, pudding and pies. During Christmas, I am all about cookies, especially my family’s potato chip cookies. If you have never had them before, you don’t know what you are missing.

In the past few years, my mom passed down the potato chip cookie recipe down to me. I am not such of a baker, because I love to add new things and get creative in the kitchen. However, these cookies are easy to make, I’m sure that anybody can master them. Two years ago, my workplace held a holiday treat swap. I made the cookies for the event. The overwhelming praise for the cookies was unbelievable to me. Several of my coworkers asked for the recipe, but I couldn’t tell them because it’s special to my family. However, it can be described as a rich sugar cookie that plays with your sweet and salty taste buds in a pleasant way. I try to only bake the cookies about twice a year, but I always want to keep the cookies to myself, because they are so tasty.

During the season, I can’t wait to indulge in sweet treats. My mom is the queen of candy bark and makes great flavors like peppermint, salted caramel and milk chocolate pretzel, which is my favorite. We always are fighting over our favorites in the household. It is so good to have traditions and recipes that you hold near to your family. What kind of traditions does your family have?

Happy Holidays!
