A little over a year ago, I met the sweetest pastry chef at Eastern Market. Nisha is the brain child behind Letz Jame and she offers all natural, preservatives free jams. Her pairings include sweet and savory flavors such as Strawberry Lemonade, Orange Ginger and Sweet Onion. She had samples of each flavor for your enjoyment and provided suggestions on how to utilize her jams. I would never thought to add jam to yogurt, oatmeal or even ice cream!
Over the winter, I topped a pork tenderloin with her Sweet Onion jam to add moisture and flavor to my meat. The sweetness of the onions and savory herbs gave my tenderloin just the right flavor I was looking for. A few weeks ago, I met up with Nisha at the market and she had pastry items that incorporated her jams. I was immediately drawn to her Pie Tarts which is a take on a classic Pop Tart. They resemble Pop Tarts, but include no added sugar and the tart is homemade. I chose Strawberry Lemonade and Orange Ginger and went on my way. Later in the week, I decided to have my tarts for breakfast. I toasted them in the toaster and impatiently waited for them to pop up. The tart was delicious with the buttery crust and sweet jam nestled inside. Pie Tarts definitely win in flavor over store bought pop tarts.
I can't wait to try her other offerings including Oatmeal Jam Bars, Cookies and Scones. If you are interested in trying some dope jams and pastries, go find Letz Jam on Sunday morning. Tell her that EatnStyle sent you over!
