The Joys of Thrifting!

Finding dope items for less is one of the joys of thrifting. I also love finding unique pieces that may look old and worn for others and will be dope and new for me. Thrifting has almost become a sport for me. Sometimes I go to a consignment shop or thrift store, just to see what I may find. People always ask me how do I find such great deals. My secret is consistency. You have to be an avid thrifter and take time to go about once a week and visit different stores. For instance, I frequent the Goodwill on South Dakota Ave in DC because they have the best shoe selection. I go to Remix Bethesda for impeccable upscale finds at great prices. Goodwill in Arlington on Columbia Pike has great household items.

I purchased a few name brand items from thrift stores that were amazing prices. As everyone knows, I love converses and am a self proclaimed chucks girl. A few weeks ago, I found a pair of blue low chucks. They were priced at $9.99. If you are familiar with DC area Goodwills, they offer 50% off certain color stickers each week. That particular week, the color was yellow. I'll let you guess the color of my chucks sticker. Brand new converses can cost around $60.00 or so. To get them from $10.00 is amazing, but to score them for $5.00 is out of this world. During a random visit to Martha's Table Outfitters in SE DC, I couldn't believe what I found. It was a pair of lime green Jack Roger's sandals. After I tried them on, I checked the price. They were marked at $7.00 from the original retail price of $130.00! I grabbed them and ran out of the store!

Remember that every thrifting trip won't turn over great finds. You have to keep going and searching. Make a plan and know which shops to visit. I can't wait to see what wonderful things you find!
