Better Than Takeout Chicken and Broccoli!

I've always loved takeout Chinese food. There's so much variety and the food comes out hot and fast. As a child, I would always order chicken with broccoli. I loved the savory brown sauce, tender chicken and crisp broccoli. i don't know how they did it, but it didn't taste like the broccoli my dad made at home.
Honestly, I get sick of eating chicken and try not to eat it everyday. But finding new ways to make something new is fun. I had a head of broccoli and all the ingredients to make the brown sauce for the meal. I cubed my chicken tenderloins, seasoned them with Trader Joe's everyday seasoning, ground ginger, garlic pepper and a little salt. After cooking the chicken over a high flame, I blanched the broccoli quickly. To make the sauce, I combined soy sauce, hoisin sauce, ginger, brown sugar as a quick sauce. After it came to a boil, I combined a little cornstarch and water to thicken the sauce. At the end, I added the chicken and broccoli back into the sauce and adjusted seasonings. I cooked some brown rice to keep the meal healthy and it was ready to go in about 30 minutes.
Just like spaghetti, my chicken and broccoli was better the following day. The sauce and flavors went through the meat and veggies. I was so happy with the result of my food and can't wait to try other Asian inspired recipes!
