Ankara Print Skirts!

Anything African print is always on trend for me. I am in love with the bold print and bright colors that demand your attention. Skirts are my favorite, because they can be dressed up with a crisp white shirt or dressed down with chucks and a graphic t-shirt.

When I was younger, I danced with an African interpretive dance troupe that opened my eyes to the beauty of ankara prints. Everything is bold and in your face just like me. Fast forward to present day, African prints are seen everywhere. Many skirts that I have purchased are either from festivals, consignment and thrift stores. If I had it my way, I would rock a bold printed skirt at least one day a week.

I am fortunate to work in an environment where the dress code is casual. Some people wear three piece suits while others wear sweatpants. Most African skirts I found have deep pockets, which is a girls dream. As a woman on the go, I always have some lip gloss, a few dollars, my phone and ID at work which fits right in my pockets.

I usually wear either a t-shirt or denim shirt, but you can take it as far as you want. Last week, I rocked my favorite African skirt paired with a graphic Howard University tee and custom hoop earrings. Always remember that there are no rules to fashion. Rock your African skirts and be bold!
