Denim on Denim on Denim!

My favorite material is denim and has always been. It is so versatile and easy to wear. When I was a little girl, my grandfather would wear his dungarees out to garden and run errands. Over the years, denim has gone from a casual inexpensive material to being seen on the red carpet or for formal events. With the popularity of denim, the demand and cost has also risen. Thankfully, I'm able to find lots of upcycled and thrifted denim.

Denim is a neutral in my wardrobe and I could wear it everyday, and did almost everyday for the past few days. When you think of denim, only jeans may come to mind. However, I think about jean jackets, shirts, jewelry and shorts. It can be adorned with jewels or pearls or heavily distressed for a more rocker appeal.
It can also be worn throughout all seasons and comes in all shades. My closet holds about 10 different shirts ranging in color and length. I wear them with everything; bold prints, neutrals, over a maxi dress and with shorts. However my favorite denim shirt is from Paper Denim and Cloth and I purchased it from TJMaxx about 5 years ago. I found it in the men's section. I found that men's button shirts leave more room for a fuller bust and wider arms. It is the perfect shade and literally goes with everything. I could wear it everyday.

Another denim staple is a pair of distressed Bermuda shorts from Toya of LTD Creations. She is amazing and creates one of a kind distressed clothing. At the beginning of the summer, I bought the best Bermuda shorts from her collection. They can be dressed up and down with t-shirt for Saturday shopping or stilettos for a girl's night out.

Denim can also be featured in you accessories. While hanging in Richmond, I met Keisha, the star of Art of Ophelia. She offered handmade earrings and lapel pins using denim. When I was there, I bought a lapel pin that combined denim and camo. I styled it on a denim jacket with olive green pants and a white t-shirt. So simple and chic. I also got to see her at a pop-up at the Spice Suite. She had the cutest scrunched denim earrings with crystals as a drop earring. I wore them earlier in the week with a white top and denim pants.

Denim will always be a major part of my wardrobe. I am even thinking of doing a week long challenge of wearing a denim article each day. Wish me luck and rock your denim!
